5e Character Creator

Hello!

I've recently been looking into the effort it would take to create a 5e character creator tool and wanted to gauge the interest.

Is this something you would like to see? If so is there any features in particluar you would like to see in a character creator tool?

All feedback is welcome, even just a yes or no is fine :)

Yes, it's something I would be interested in. A step by step wizard sort of approach to the character creation process would be great, but really anything would be good and it would also be nice to be able to link the character to campaigns, with the ability to level them up.

Sure, I'd be down to see it! 

Maybe an automatic stats roller would do. Racial options. And all class variety! (Maybe even including a section to make your own homebrew classes and races)

Also I'd just like to inform you of the freudian slip you made in your notification. You said Jew instead of New in the notification and I was extremely confused at first.

haha thanks for calling that out @Sniffledorp! i typed that up on my phone this morning and clearly mistyped :)

if i build this out, i plan on doing it in a way to allow for homebrew content, i think thats a good idea!

It's a nice idea, although start small with just the ability to track some stats and items, too much integration kills other sites for me, since it's expected for players to start using the site instead of their faviourite tools.

I kinda picture the character builder as like an optional thing, use it if you want type tool. There are other character tools out there that do a great job and i dont want to lock anyone into using a tool they realy dont want to.

That being said though would you expect to see an export feature for a character builder tool?

You asked for yays AND nays, so my vote is actually a nay. Simply because in my campaigns my players and I go into a lot of detail with character creation and integration of characters into the setting and the group, so for us it would probably just not be useful at this point. If you did go ahead though, I'd suggest that an ability to export the characters to pdf would be useful for those who still rint their characters out.

Totally useful! New players can use it as a guide. GMs can recer to them in a campaign with ease.

I'm trying to decouple the character creation stuff, so for those that want to use it, it's easy to integrate. But if you don't want to use it, it's not going to get in your way. I do plan on building out some export features, i'm going to try to have different versions of the character sheet to export to as well.
