Monster Monday - Stirge

As you venture deeper into the forest, the path becomes increasingly overgrown with tangled underbrush and twisted roots. Shafts of sunlight struggle to penetrate the dense canopy above, casting the path in dappled shadows. The air is thick with the hum of insects and the chorus of unseen creatures hidden amidst the foliage.
As you round a bend in the path, you come upon a particularly dense thicket of bushes. Amongst the foliage, you catch sight of a small, bat-like creature with leathery wings and a needle-like proboscis. It's a stirge, its blood-red eyes fixated on you with hunger.
The stirge's wings buzz softly as it hovers in the air, its needle-like proboscis dripping with a foul-looking substance. It emits an eerie, high-pitched whine as it prepares to dive towards you, sensing the warmth of your blood.
The forest path ahead is blocked by this menacing creature, its presence an ominous sign of the dangers that lurk within these woods. Will you attempt to fend off the stirge and continue on your journey, or will you seek an alternate route to avoid its deadly embrace?
