Monster Monday - Dead Goblin

The soft glow of your torch reveals the rough, uneven floor of the cave as you carefully make your way deeper into its shadowy depths. The air is cool and damp, filled with the earthy scent of stone and the faint sound of dripping water echoing through the tunnels. As you round a corner, your light falls upon a small, motionless figure lying on the ground.

A goblin lies there, its small form still and lifeless. The goblin’s greenish skin is dulled, its eyes closed as if in a deep, eternal sleep. The crude armor it wears is scuffed and worn, hinting at a recent struggle. Nearby, a simple dagger rests loosely in its hand, the weapon a silent witness to whatever conflict took place.

Scattered around the goblin are a few personal belongings—a tattered pouch, a broken shortbow, and a couple of arrows, their tips slightly dulled. The scene is quiet and somber, the goblin’s fate a reminder of the harsh realities of life in these dark, hidden places.

The cave seems to hold its breath, the stillness almost reverent, as if the shadows themselves are paying their respects to the fallen creature. There is no malice here, only the quiet end of a life lived in the shadows, far from the sunlit world above. As you stand over the goblin, the weight of the cave’s silence presses down, urging you onward, deeper into the unknown.
