Monster Monday - Stone Golem

Amidst the ruins of a crumbling, long-forgotten tower, the stone golem stands—a monolithic sentinel carved from ancient rock, unwavering in its eternal duty. The once-proud structure behind it has fallen into disrepair, its stones scattered and walls partially collapsed, but the golem remains, steadfast and unyielding.
The golem’s massive form is sculpted from dark, weathered stone, its surface marred by the passage of centuries. Cracks run along its limbs and torso, some filled with dirt and dust, while others remain sharp and jagged, hinting at past battles fought to protect the tower’s secrets. The stone itself is a mix of slate gray and deep granite, with flecks of lighter rock embedded throughout, giving it the appearance of something hewn from the mountains themselves.
Its body is a blend of brute strength and craftsmanship, each limb chiseled with rough precision. Broad shoulders and thick, powerful arms end in massive hands that resemble stone gauntlets, capable of crushing intruders with a single strike. Faint carvings can still be seen along its torso—runes and sigils eroded by time, once vibrant with magic but now barely visible.
Its face is a simple, angular mask, with deep-set, hollow eyes that glow with a cold, pale blue light—a remnant of the enchantments that animate it. The golem’s expression is stern and unchanging, like that of an ancient warrior sworn to guard the tower long after its masters have perished.
When still, the golem blends almost seamlessly with the surrounding rubble, its stone frame appearing like just another fragment of the ruined tower. But when disturbed, it rumbles to life, joints grinding and stone scraping against stone. Each movement is slow and deliberate, driven by the singular purpose of guarding the broken relic behind it.
