Monster Monday - Wraith
Posted on Oct 13, 2024 by Admin
In the dark, oppressive corridors of a long-abandoned dungeon, a wraith drifts silently, its skeletal form cloaked in a robe that defies the decay of the world around it. Unlike the crumbling stone walls and dust-covered floors, the wraith’s robe is unnaturally pristine, immaculate and untouched by time. It glows with a faint, ethereal blue light, casting a cold radiance that illuminates the dank, grim surroundings with an otherworldly brilliance.
The robe itself is an elegant, flowing garment, its fabric seemingly woven from something more than cloth—perhaps a material not of this world. The edges of the robe do not fray or tear, even as it trails behind the wraith, brushing over jagged stones and uneven floors. The fabric is smooth and perfect, free of dirt or wear, as though it exists in a state of perpetual newness. Its surface shimmers faintly, the blue light pulsing softly, in rhythm with the wraith’s eerie, silent presence.
The contrast between the robe and the wraith’s skeletal form beneath it is striking. The bones that protrude from the sleeves are pale, brittle, and worn by the ages, but the robe itself remains flawless, as if protecting its wearer from the ravages of time. The glowing fabric clings loosely to the wraith’s hollow frame, the sleeves flowing over its skeletal arms like liquid moonlight. The hood of the robe obscures most of its face, but the faint blue glow from within reveals the empty eye sockets of the skull, burning with cold, spectral light.
As the wraith glides through the dungeon, its robe moves with an unnatural grace, flowing smoothly as if caught in an invisible current. There is a quiet, almost serene beauty to the robe, but it is the kind of beauty that unnerves—a perfect, unchanging thing in a world of decay and ruin. The dungeon around the wraith feels older and darker in contrast, its broken stones and crumbling walls seeming to shrink away from the unnatural purity of the robe.
