Monster Monday - Zombie Dwarf

In the mist-laden depths of the forest, a zombie dwarf stumbles forward, its decaying form moving with a slow, jerky motion. The trees loom high overhead, their branches twisted and gnarled, as though recoiling from the unnatural presence that now walks among them. The usual vibrant sounds of the forest are conspicuously absent, leaving only the soft rustling of leaves and the occasional creak of branches as the only companions to this eerie figure.

The dwarf’s once-proud physique, broad and muscular in life, has become a decayed shell. Its flesh hangs loosely from its bones, sagging and torn in places where rot has set in. Its bare torso is exposed, revealing a chest marred by decay, with patches of discolored skin stretched taut over its ribs. In some spots, the flesh has withered away entirely, exposing yellowing bones beneath. Despite the signs of rot, the zombie's body still retains the solid build of its dwarven heritage, a reminder of the strength it once possessed.

The dwarf wears no armor—its only "protection" is the tattered remnants of a tunic clinging to its decaying form. The fabric is torn, stained with dirt and blood, barely hanging together after years of exposure to the elements and its undeath. Its bare arms are thick, though the muscles are wasted and grey, and the once-calloused hands now seem limp and lifeless, with nails cracked and dirt-encrusted.

The dwarf’s eyes glow faintly with a sickly green light, staring ahead with a vacant, soulless gaze. These eyes show no hint of intelligence or awareness, only the hollow presence of undeath. The expression on its face is frozen in a slack-jawed grimace, as if caught forever in the moment of its death. A scraggly beard, once a symbol of dwarven pride, is now filthy and matted, tangled with mud and remnants of leaves.
