Monster Monday - Zombie Ogre

In the depths of a shadowy forest, a hulking zombie ogre shambles along, its enormous frame towering over the twisted underbrush. The creature’s massive body is a grotesque reminder of its former strength, now twisted by decay and dark magic. The forest itself seems to hold its breath, as though aware that something unnatural moves within it, and the usual rustling and chirping falls eerily silent.

The ogre’s flesh is pallid and mottled, discolored in sickly shades of gray and green. Patches of its thick skin have peeled away, exposing raw, roughened patches of muscle underneath. Its broad chest rises and falls in uneven, labored movements, though it breathes only as a remnant of life, for there is no spark of awareness within the creature’s vacant, clouded eyes. They glow faintly with a pale, sickly green light, staring blankly into the misty forest ahead. The expression on its face is slack, with its mouth slightly agape, showing a set of broken, dull teeth.

Once strong and sinewy, the zombie ogre’s limbs are now stiff and clumsy. Its large, gnarled hands hang limply by its sides, fingers twisted and dirt-streaked. One of its hands clutches an old, splintered club—a crude weapon that seems to have seen as much wear as the creature itself. The wood is cracked and rotting, with bits of moss clinging to its surface, and yet the ogre holds it as if by instinct, a forgotten remnant of its former, brutish life.
